This brief newsletter is mainly to remind you of our eight persons visiting Reghin next week to attend the official opening of the new Selah school. Walter & Angie Meyer, Ian & Pam Pratt, Andy & Teresa White, Richard Dickson and Ollie Harding will be leaving very early next Monday [6 Feb] morning for the ceremony on Wednesday before returning home on Thursday evening.
Thankfully, the weather seems set fair compared with the extremely low temperatures out there during the past few weeks. -20oC causes many problems we can‘t even contemplate here – spectacles freezing over and cars unwilling to start when it falls below -15oC. Fuel [wood] has been scarce but thankfully there wasn’t too much snow – enough to provide some insulation but not enough to damage flimsy roofs!
The school actually “opened for business” shortly before Christmas and both children and staff love it though the teachers are having to adapt to new programmes and systems with inexperienced student helpers having to be taught as well. It was relatively unaffected by the cold weather except on a couple of days when there were problems with their minibus. This has been fixed but now they’re urgently looking for a replacement – the money is available but not the right vehicle – as yet!
As advised last time, the following dates for probable working visits this year are:
6-13 May; 3-10 June; 16-23 September and 23-30 September 2017.
Anyone who is keen to be part of either of these teams should aim to attend an information afternoon being held at St Barnabas church at Bearwood on Sunday 26 February from 2-30 to 4-30pm. If unable to attend please speak to any of the RAG team for further information asap. NB. All are welcome.
Thank you for reading this newsletter and with every blessing.
