Dear Friends
Just a brief update as we have a mission team going out to Romania at the end of this month …
We are making final preparations for the 4 people visiting Reghin 28 September – 5 October who will be working on renovations of homes in the Roma communities.
Pete Ferenczy, Perry Grist and myself will be joined by Marcos Sehnam from a church in Bournemouth on his first trip. We hope the renovations will help the impoverished Roma families to be better prepared for the harsh winter weather.
We’re really looking forward to joining our friends at our charity partner Phoneo who are based in Reghin in Romania and serve the Roma communities. It is so humbling to see what God is doing through Phoneo in these communities and an amazing experience to worship together in the church service with the Roma families on Sunday. We also hope to catch up with Richard Dickson, who previously worshipped at the Lantern, went on Mission to Romania trips and is now based in Reghin.
Whilst in Reghin, we will catch up with our friends in the Phoneo leadership team and discuss their plans for next year and how we can be involved.
Previous trips have included people from churches across our parish, further afield and not-yet Christians who have found it an unforgettable experience so please let any of us know if you are interested in joining us on a future trip.
Please can you pray for:
• Give thanks for each of those in the teams going to Reghin shortly – that they will bond well to-gether and have a great time.
• For protection and good health beforehand and whilst in Romania; for safe travel and good working conditions throughout their stay.
• For all our Phoneo friends as they welcome us once more and face up to the day-today chal-lenges supporting an impoverished community.
• The Roma families – that through Phoneo and our support, they will seek to become closer to God and then reach out to their neighbours.

Thank you and God bless

 Dear Friends

Thank you to so many of you for your support – whether encouragement for our mission trips, prayers for safety and for our work, or monthly giving. We very much appreciate your kindness.

2024 Mission Trip Dates
We are pleased to release our planned trip dates for this year:

• Saturday 14 September to Saturday 21 September
• Saturday 28 September to Saturday 5 October

The cost for a mission trip has been maintained this year at £400 and this includes flights, all other travel, ensuite accommodation in the church building, work insurance and main meals.

We’d love to hear from anyone who has practical experience, repairs or is just willing to help out.
We may also have the chance to help with community projects so there should be something for most people. Please pray and consider whether you, or someone you may know, might be interested in joining us for a mission trip and let us know as soon as possible.

Mission to Romania Quiz Night
We have a Quiz Night at the Lantern church on Saturday 27 April from 6.45pm.
Why not invite along your friends, family or church group members and make up a team? Or you can book and join others and make up a team on the night. Tickets are £10 per person including meal. Please book your places ASAP on www.thelanternchurch.org/events so we know food numbers to order.

Please do ask Peter Owen or Walter Meyer for more info about our mission trips or the Quiz Night.

Please pray for:

• Thanks for our ongoing working relationship with our mission partners Phoneo in Romania.
• For team members to make up well balanced teams for our trips planned in September/October.
• For protection over the Roma communities that they will stay safe and well.
• For our mission partners Phoneo that they will continue to know God’s guidance and carry out His work amongst the Roma communities.

Thank you and God bless

Dear Friends

Thank you to so many of your for your support – whether encouragement for our September trips,
prayers for safety and for our work, or monthly giving. We very much appreciate your kindness.
Our trips to Reghin in September went well and we have had encouraging feedback and those who
joined us are keen to go again next September which is great to hear.
The plan was to prepare two sets of foundations for new one room homes for Roma families in
particular need of a safe place to live giving them protection from worst of the harsh winter.
Things didn’t work out quite like that as the first set of foundations took much longer than expected.
Also, the land for the second planned home was delayed. However, God was in control and the first
set of foundations were completed by our second week and the home completed by teams from the
Netherlands & Germany – an international team effort! A home became available ready for the
second family so they had a home ready for them much sooner than expected!
It was good to see our friends at Phoneo again and to discuss their projects supporting the Roma
communities and how we can continue to work with them. Another highlight was the Roma church
service when it was so encouraging to see 6 men from the Roma communities ask for prayer. What
a difference they growing faith in Jesus will make to their families and those they meet!
Please do ask Caitlin, Perry, Peter, Jenny, Oliver, Dan or Walt about their recent trip and they’ll be
happy to tell you about it. We have already had enquiries about future trips and we’ll share dates
when we have them.
Please pray for:
• Give thanks that the trips in September were successful, the teams worked well together and
that everyone stayed healthy and had a great time.
• For the Roma men who asked for prayer that they will make good decisions and be a positive
witness to their families and communities and encourage others to know more about Jesus.
• For protection over the Roma communities that they will stay safe and well in the harsh winter.
• For our mission partners Phoneo that they will continue to know God’s guidance and carry out
His work amongst the Roma communities.
Thank you and God bless
